LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen expressed his appreciation to the Nebraska Legislature’s Revenue Committee for its work to advance LB 388 to the floor for debate.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen is commending the hire of Troy Dannen as the new director of athletics for the University of Nebraska. The former UNI grad (1989) has been serving as athletic director at the University of Washington. Prior to that, Dannen oversaw athletics at Tulane University and the University of Northern Iowa.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has approved regulations governing nonsurgical pharmaceutical gender altering treatments for individuals under nineteen years of age.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen issued the following statement upon the Nebraska Legislature taking up a vote to override LB 307, introduced by Senator Megan Hunt. The body voted to sustain the Governor’s veto, 27-20.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced the retirement of Jim Macy, director of the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE). His last day will be April 19.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen vetoed LB 307 which proposes the creation of Syringe Service Programs (SSPs) in local jurisdictions. Such programs would allow for the distribution of hypodermic needles to drug users. The bill also creates an exception from prosecution for those service providers authorized to distribute the needles.  It was introduced by Senator Megan Hunt of Omaha and was passed by the Legislature on a vote of 30-7-12.

LINCOLN, NE. – Governor Jim Pillen has announced a new scholarship program for Nebraska students aimed at growing the number of veterinarians serving livestock producers across the state.  The Nebraska Elite 11 Veterinarian Program provides financial support to Nebraska students pursuing degrees in animal science or veterinary science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s (UNL) College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR). Today, is the first day that applications are being accepted for the first cohort of students.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen released a statement on the increased revenue projection by Nebraska Economic Forecasting Board. The board voted today to raise revenue projections by $50 million for the 24-25 biennium.
