LINCOLN, NE – On the anniversary of 9/11 – the worst terror attack to occur on U.S. soil -- Governor Jim Pillen joined state senators in presenting three new laws aimed at enhancing security for the state and the nation. The bills, two of which address land ownership, were the focus of a news conference and ceremonial bill signing at Husker Harvest Days in Grand Island.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced that all U.S. and Nebraska flags are to be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day, September 11, 2024. Flags should be flown from sunrise to sunset.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen continues to monitor developments in the aftermath of an altercation between two students that led to a shooting inside Northwest High School in Omaha. Based on the latest police reports, the incident was isolated to the two students, one of whom was critically injured.

LINCOLN, NE -- Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced the resignation of Jason Jackson, director of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and chief human resources officer.  Jackson, who has been with the state since 2016, is leaving to pursue an opportunity in the private sector. His last day is Sept. 27.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has requested federal funding to enable continued recovery from storms that impacted eastern Nebraska on July 31 and Aug. 1. Five counties sustained damage resulting from severe thunderstorms, straight-line winds, hail, and flooding including Cass, Douglas, Lancaster, Sarpy and Saunders.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen joined a slate of governors, education leaders, state and federal legislators and others in a letter to Congress voicing support for the expansion of educational freedom. That letter calls for expanding options to students and parents in all 50 states, though the implementation of a tax credit scholarship program.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced three initiatives that he, along with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) would be undertaking now and in the future, to protect the state’s agriculture industry, as well as consumers, from lab-grown meat. Standing before a group of producers at Oak Barn Beef in West Point, the Governor signed an executive order creating strict guidelines when it comes to state agencies and its contractors from obtaining lab-grown meat.
