LINCOLN, NE - Governor Jim Pillen, in accordance with a request from the White House, announced that all U.S. and Nebraska flags are to be flown at half-staff, today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day.

 LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen requested a federal major disaster declaration for Nebraska counties impacted by winter storm conditions on April 6 and 7. The request includes the following eight counties: Banner, Cheyenne, Dawes, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff and Sioux.

LINCOLN, NE – At the request of Governor Jim Pillen, President Joe Biden granted a major disaster declaration for the state, triggering the release of federal funds to help Nebraska residents and communities recover from severe storms, straight line winds and tornadoes that occurred April 25-27. The action comes just one day following Gov. Pillen’s request for federal assistance to help those who were impacted by severe storms in Douglas and Washington counties. Gov. Pillen expressed his appreciation for the expedited federal declaration.

LINCOLN, NE - Governor Jim Pillen is standing with 52 other state and territorial governors opposing proposed federal legislation that would endanger or deny their ability to act as commanders in chief over their respective National Guards.  He signed onto a letter, expressing concern over LP480, submitted by the Department of Defense to the Senate Armed Services Committee, calling for Air National Guard members to be incorporated into the Space Force.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen and the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are providing updates concerning the response and recovery from a string of storms that swept through Nebraska over the weekend. There have been no reports of deaths or serious injuries resulting from the devastating weather. Starting Friday and continuing into Sunday, affected areas were impacted by tornadoes, high winds, severe thunderstorms, and heavy rain.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has announced the appointment of Brynne Holsten Puhl of Lincoln to Nebraska’s Workers’ Compensation Court. The primary location of the vacancy is Lincoln, Lancaster County. Judges appointed to the court have statewide jurisdiction.

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has signed 10 bills into law and announced his veto of a bill he says would harm Nebraska taxpayers. 

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen has announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew J. McCarville as chief information officer for the state of Nebraska. McCarville starts his new role today.
