LINCOLN, NE – Today, Bryan Tuma, executive director for the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice appointed Mark Stephenson as Director of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center (NLETC) in Grand Island, Nebraska, effective October 30, 2023. Stephenson was recommended for his appointment to this position by the Police Standards Advisory Council.

The announcement follows the death this week of an employee with the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), who was killed by a passing vehicle on Highway 34, west of Aurora.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced he is accepting applications to fill the vacancy by Senator Tom Briese in District 41. Sen. Briese, who will assume his new role as state treasurer on Nov. 1, submitted his resignation to the Governor on October 17, effective October 31. Gov. Pillen’s appointee will complete the remainder of Sen. Briese’s elected term through 2024.
