Nebraska Capitol Goes Blue in Showing Solidarity with Israel

LINCOLN, NE – At the direction of Governor Jim Pillen, the Nebraska Capitol will be illuminated in blue light starting tonight, as a symbol of solidarity with the people of Israel. The color is representative of Israel’s flag, which is blue and white. The Capitol will remain blue through the evening of Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Gov. Pillen Announces READ Nebraska Grant Recipients

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen, along with Director K.C. Belitz of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED), have announced the recipients of the READ Nebraska grant program. The program is focused on expanding mentorships throughout the state, with the goal of improving reading proficiency among elementary school students.

Governor Pillen Provides Statement Upon Signature Verification for LB753

LINCOLN, NE -- Today, Governor Jim Pillen issued the following statement in response to an update provided by Secretary of State Bob Evnen that signatures collected for a repeal of LB753 (Opportunity Scholarship Act) had met the necessary threshold for placing the issue on the ballot in November 2024.

Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor Victims of the Terrorist Attacks in Israel

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced that all U.S. and Nebraska flags are to be flown at half-staff beginning Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at sunrise to honor the victims of the deadly terrorism attacks in Israel.

Flags to Return to Full Staff At Sunset Today

LINCOLN, NE – Today at sunset, all U.S. and state flags are to return to full staff, with the interment of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein. Senator Feinstein died Sept. 29. By proclamation of the White House, flags were ordered to be flown at half-staff in her honor, until the date of interment.

Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of U.S. Senator Feinstein

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen, in accordance with a request from the White House, announced that all U.S. and Nebraska flags be flown at half-staff to honor U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California. The order is effective immediately and is to last until sunset on the day of Sen. Feinstein’s interment.
