Gov. Pillen is Accepting Applications for State Treasurer

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Pillen announced he is accepting applications for the constitutional office of Nebraska State Treasure. Treasurer John Murante officially submitted his resignation letter to Gov. Pillen, effective end of the day on September 18.  Murante has accepted the position of director of the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS).

Gov. Pillen and Lincoln Mayor Announce Property Swap for New Prison

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen joined Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird in announcing the new agreed upon site for the state’s new 1,512-bed correctional facility. The property, approximately 300 acres, is located north of I-80 adjacent to 70th Street. In exchange, the state will relinquish property it had previously contracted at 112th and Adams.

Gov. Pillen Announces Office Move Due To HVAC Project

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced that his office, and offices belonging to support staff, have been moved to accommodate ongoing upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system at the State Capitol. The move affects offices on the second floor, where the Governor is located, as well as the first floor. The offices are located on the northeast side of the building and are considered part of phase four of the HVAC project.

Gov. Pillen Announces Return Date of Deployed Soldiers & Summarizes Visit to Border

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced that 61 soldiers deployed to the southern border will return to Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 1. Members of the Nebraska Army National Guard have been in Texas since Aug. 2. Gov. Pillen joined Adjutant General Craig Strong for an in-person visit with the troops on Aug. 21.

Gov. Pillen Hosts Veterans and Families at Annual Welcome Home Picnic

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen and First Lady Suzanne Pillen hosted 24 Nebraska service members, dozens of family members and representatives of numerous support groups at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Lincoln. The annual Welcome Home Picnic was co-hosted by the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs (NDVA) and sponsored by Walmart. The event is for veterans who discharged in the previous year.

USDA Answers Gov. Pillen’s Call to Boost Producer LIP Payment Rate

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced that payments to Nebraska cattle producers who have suffered weather-related losses, will be compensated at a higher rate. Gov. Pillen thanked Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack for answering his call to boost the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) payment rate, in response to his urgent request on behalf of Nebraska cattle producers.
