Governor Pillen Promotes Broadband Connections During National Library Week

CLAY CENTER, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen, together with the Nebraska Library Commission, the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC), the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), and the Clay Center Library, highlighted the Nebraska E-rate Special Construction State Matching Grant Program as an opportunity to further connect Nebraskans by incentivizing new broadband fiber construction to state libraries.

Governor Pillen Extends Statewide Burn Ban

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen announced he is extending the statewide suspension of the authority of local fire chiefs to waive the open burning ban. The suspension is effective through midnight April 23, 2023 based on extreme dry and windy conditions that pose major fire risks. The Governor will be in consultation with fire and emergency officials to continually reassess the prohibition on open burns.

Governor Pillen Seeks Applicants for NPPD Board

LINCOLN, NE – Due to the vacancy in Subdivision 11 for the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) Board of Directors, Governor Jim Pillen is now accepting applications to fill the vacancy. Prospective applicants can apply through the Governor's Boards and Commissions portal or in writing to the Office of the Governor (P.O. Box 94848 Lincoln, NE 68509-4848). Applicants for the position must live within Subdivision 11 and reside in an area served directly or indirectly by NPPD.

Governor Pillen Announces Appointment for District 25

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced his appointment of former prosecutor Carolyn Bosn to serve as the representative for District 25 in the Nebraska Legislature. She will fill the seat and complete the term of Sen. Suzanne Geist. Geist announced her resignation yesterday. It is effective at the end of the day. Bosn’s first day in the Legislature will be Tuesday, April 11.
