Governor Pillen Appoints Blackman as District Court Judge in the Sixth Judicial District

 

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced his appointment of Zachary L. Blackman as district court judge in the Sixth Judicial District of Nebraska. That district includes Burt, Cedar, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Thurston and Washington counties.

 

Blackman has been an assistant attorney general with the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office since 2018, litigating felony criminal cases involving murder, assault, child sexual assault, child abuse and misconduct of public officials. He previously served as deputy county attorney in Richardson County and an associate attorney in the firm of Weaver & Merz in Falls City.

 

Blackman graduated from Doane University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

 

The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge John E. Sampson.
