It’s an honor to welcome U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to Nebraska on Monday. It’s an opportunity to showcase our farmers, ranchers, and innovators – highlighting the men and women who work every day to feed the world and save the planet.
Since President Trump was sworn back into office, my team and I have worked hard to build relationships with his Administration to make sure Nebraskans have a seat at the table in our nation’s capital city.
More than any recent leader, the Trump White House is taking action and focusing on issues that matter to Nebraskans. Simply, the President’s priorities are our priorities.
President Trump and Nebraskans want:
- Better trade deals and more markets for our farmers and ranchers
- A secure border that prevents illegal immigration and promotes national security
- Smaller government and way less red tape
- Government to reflect the values we deeply believe in
- Families and consumers to be able to keep more of what they earn
That’s a conservative, common-sense agenda, and we’re proud to work hand-in-hand with the Administration. This is a partnership working to help advance our values and run government like a business.
So, this trip by Secretary Rollins is an opportunity for us to say thank you to the Administration for their leadership while also bragging about what makes Nebraska – especially our farmers and ranchers – the best.
Secretary Rollins has spent decades working to shape common-sense policies that are good for agriculture, consumers, and rural America. She’s whip smart and knows how to get results. But it’s not every day that a Secretary visits our state, so we’re taking advantage of it with a full schedule. We’ll highlight family farms and our state’s work to grow value-added agriculture while giving Nebraska producers a chance to share their first-hand experiences directly with the Administration.
Nebraska agriculture is American agriculture, after all. We’re the best of the best, and we’re blessed to live over the Ogallala Aquifer on the most productive land in human history. Our successes as a state are tied directly to the successes of our farming and ranching families. So, in my book, there’s no better place to talk about all things agriculture.
Most importantly though, I wanted Secretary Rollins to get to meet our favorite part of Nebraska: the people. We’re gritty innovators who get stuff done and want what’s best for our neighbors.
We’re doing everything we can to set Nebraska up for success: We’re fixing the property tax crisis, defending ranching by banning ‘bioreactor,’ lab-grown fake meat, preventing foreign adversaries from buying land in our state, and prioritizing the quality and quantity of our water through our newly established Department of Water, Energy, and Environment.
As the first governor from agriculture in over 100 years, my team and I are setting the tone and putting the work in to promote Nebraska’s best. My hope is that, through this visit and in continued conversations, the Secretary – and ultimately the President – feel our encouragement to keep defending agriculture and our shared values.
We have the White House’s back, and there’s no question that Nebraska is on the team.
