Gov. Pillen Updates Progress at Work Ethic Camp; Passes Final Inspection

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen is providing an update on progress made at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook, which will allow the facility to be utilized for the detention of illegal detainees in support of ongoing efforts by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE.

Gov. Pillen to Lead Trade Mission to Israel

LINCOLN, NE – Next week, Governor Jim Pillen will lead a trade mission to Israel. The state delegation includes representatives from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development; Jewish Federation of Omaha; and Nebraska’s agricultural equipment manufacturing, food manufacturing, and professional service industries. The mission will take place from October 27-30.

President Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for August 8-10 Storms

LINCOLN, NE – Following a phone call with Governor Pillen, President Donald J. Trump approved the distribution of $15 million in funding to support recovery efforts from a summer storm system that resulted in extremely strong winds and flash flooding. The Aug. 8-10 event caused extensive damage to schools and public facilities. Public power infrastructure took the hardest hit.

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen appointed Richard P. McGowan of Omaha as district court judge in the Fourth Judicial District. That district consists of Douglas County.

Nebraska Publishes Contract with ICE to use Work Ethic Camp as ICE Detention Facility

LINCOLN, NE – Today, Governor Jim Pillen announced the state has published a contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to utilize the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook as a federal detention center for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Judicial Nominating Commission Advances Names for Consideration as Supreme Court Associate Justice
