Governor-Elect Pillen Announces Two Cabinet Appointments

 

LINCOLN, NE – Nebraska Governor-elect Jim Pillen announced he will be retaining John Albin as the Commissioner of the Nebraska Department of Labor and Eric Dunning as the Director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance.

John Albin Named Commissioner of the Nebraska Department of Labor

"John has a long history of focusing on process improvement and delivering results during his three decades at the Department of Labor," said Governor-elect Pillen. "He will continue doing an excellent job helping government run more like a business and remain customer-focused as he continues in his role as commissioner."

Albin has served the Nebraska Department of Labor in different roles for over 30 years. Since 2014, he has been the Commissioner of Labor. Previously, he served as the General Counsel, Legislative Liaison, Legal Counsel, and Administrative Law Judge for the department. Albin holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Eric Dunning Named Director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance

"Eric will continue our state's track record of being the best place in the nation for insurers to do business," said Governor-elect Pillen. "He has decades of experience, both public and private, that have resulted in strong relationships within the industry and a clear knowledge of how to help businesses thrive in Nebraska.

Dunning was appointed Director of Insurance in 2021. Prior to his appointment, he served as the director of government affairs at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska. He has over 15 years or experience as an attorney for the Department of Insurance, having advised the agency leadership on legal matters from 1998 to 2013. Dunning earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and he holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
