Governor Ricketts’ Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Statement

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day which is celebrated on January 18, 2016.
“Dr. King’s work to secure civil rights for all Americans regardless of race is an inspiration to all who fight for justice and equality in the 21st century,” said Governor Ricketts.  “Our state’s rich history is deeply rooted in freedom, opportunity, liberty, and a hope for a better life for future generations—values Dr. King embodied.  To grow our state and ensure equality before the law, we must continue to build on this tradition for generations to come.”
Recently, Governor Ricketts signed a proclamation declaring Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Nebraska.  On Monday, he will deliver remarks at a lunch in honor of Dr. King.
