Governor’s Wellness Award Application Open for 2016

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced the application process for the 2016 Governor’s Wellness Awards opens on March 7th with the final deadline on June 3, 2016.

“The Governor’s Wellness Award recognizes Nebraska employers who dedicate leadership, resources, and time to wellness efforts in the workplace,” said Governor Ricketts.  “Healthy employees help strengthen workplace performance and create a solid foundation for overall success.”

The Governor’s Wellness Award encourages businesses to offer employee health and wellness programs.  Factors considered for the award include the level of support for the program within company leadership, assessment of employees’ needs, the design of the wellness plan, outcomes and benefits of the wellness plan, and policies supporting healthy behaviors.

An informational webinar that walks interested parties through the application process step-by-step is being held on March 3 at 9:00am and 2:00pm.  To join, go to the Nebraska Safety Council’s website at https://www.nesafetycouncil.org/index.php/workwell-awards/governor-s-wellness-awards.
