LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement following news that President Donald J. Trump had approved a disaster declaration for Nebraska following severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, baseball-size hail, and flooding from June 17th to July 1st.

“Thank you to President Trump for his swift approval of our request for disaster relief,” said Governor Ricketts.  “This aid will help Nebraskans communities impacted by storms in June and July expedite their recovery.”

The declaration means federal aid is available to help supplement state and local recovery efforts.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will make funding available to state and eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and repairs of facilities damaged in the following 10 counties:  Cedar, Colfax, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Harlan, Logan, Thomas, Thurston, and Wayne.
