Gov. Ricketts Seeks Applicants for Legislative District 7 Seat
Lincoln – Today, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that he will seek qualified applicants to fill the vacancy in Legislative District 7 created by Senator Jeremy Nordquist’s resignation.
Sen. Nordquist submitted his resignation effective July 1, 2015 after announcing that he would serve as Chief of Staff to Congressman Brad Ashford of Omaha.
Applications for appointment to fill the vacancy in Legislative District 7 will be accepted until 5:00pm on Friday, July 24, 2015. Applicants wishing to be considered for appointment must demonstrate that they have lived within the district for at least a full year, are registered to vote, and are at least 21 years old. The district is located in Southeast Omaha in Douglas County. A map of the district can be found at www.NebraskaLegislature.gov. The Governor reserves the right to seek out additional qualified candidates.
This appointment is for one and one-half years, and the appointee will serve until January 2017.
