Gov. Ricketts Names CIO
Lincoln – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced Ed Toner as the new Chief Information Officer for the State of Nebraska. His appointment comes at the conclusion of a search for a director who will assist the Governor with initiatives to utilize technology to better deliver government services.
Toner currently serves as the Director of IT Global Information and Operations at First Data in Omaha. In this position, he led a team of IT architects and performance engineers who transformed 14 front-end authorization platforms to a recovery time objective of zero within the first year of the program. He also established the company’s High Availability Program which includes over $25 million in budgeted infrastructure improvements. Toner had previously served as Director of IT Financial Services at First Data.
Prior to his tenure at First Data, Toner worked at Ameritrade as a Six Sigma Black Belt and also as Director of IT Enterprise Operations for TD Ameritrade Technology Group.
Toner holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University.

Toner will start on June 9, 2015. His salary will be $170,000.
