LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts met with a delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the U.S. Erzhan Kazykhanov and Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov.

Together, they discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation and the possibility of future trade missions.  Representatives of Valmont Industries, an agricultural equipment manufacturer headquartered in Omaha, also attended the meeting to highlight the company’s partnership with Kazakh National Agrarian Science and Educational Centre.

After spending time with Gov. Ricketts, the Kazakh dignitaries met with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Nebraskan agriculture companies to explore prospective collaborative ventures.

Bordering both China and Russia, Kazakhstan enjoys an advantageous location along major trade routes that connect Europe and Asia.
