Gov. Ricketts Highlights Nebraska’s First-in-the-Nation Fiscal Ranking from Leading Think Tank
LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts highlighted news that the Mercatus Center at George Mason University had ranked Nebraska the number one state in the nation for fiscal condition. Nebraska jumped five spots from being ranked sixth best in the nation last year.
“Our state government has long lived by the same principles that Nebraskans practice at home every day by living within our means, balancing our budget, setting priorities, and cutting wasteful spending,” said Governor Ricketts. “This ranking by the Mercatus Center is a reflection of the teamwork and leadership it has taken to exercise fiscal responsibility over the years. Nebraska remains focused and committed to building on this tradition of fiscal restraint for years to come.”
