Nebraska’s second largest industry continues to grow
OMAHA – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts and the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) traveled the state to highlight Manufacturing Day and to celebrate Nebraska’s second largest industry. The statewide tour included Hastings Public Middle School and High School in Hastings; Valmont Industries and Mid-Plains Community College in McCook; and CLAAS Global Sales in Omaha. Industry and educational leaders joined the Governor and DED at each stop.
“Manufacturing, Nebraska’s second largest industry, continues to help grow Nebraska,” said Governor Ricketts. “Over the last year, we’ve seen companies add manufacturing jobs across out state, and most recently we’ve seen a manufacturing company announce the relocation of their headquarters from Silicon Valley to Lincoln, the heart of the Silicon Prairie. Manufacturing will continue to remain a key part of growing our entire state for years to come.”
At a proclamation ceremony earlier this week, Governor Ricketts signed a proclamation to declare October as Manufacturing Month in Nebraska. A copy of the proclamation is attached.
