Gov. Ricketts Appoints Developmental Disabilities Director

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced the appointment of Courtney Miller as Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

“Courtney fills a crucial position on the team at DHHS,” said Governor Pete Ricketts.  “Her broad experience from across state government will aid her as she supports the entire team’s efforts to build a culture of continuous improvement at the department.”

Miller, of Lincoln, has served as the acting director for the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the past three months.  Since 2008, she has worked in a variety of capacities in the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care at DHHS including Deputy Director for the Programs Section, Administrator I, and Program Specialist.

Before her tenure at DHHS, Miller served the Nebraska State Patrol as a Records Technician and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services as a Unit Case Manager and Worker.  Miller started her career at the Iowa Department of Human Services where she served as an Income Maintenance Worker.

Miller holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Briar Cliff University in Iowa and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska – Omaha.  She has been named as a DHHS and Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Employee of the Year.

“It’s an honor to serve the State of Nebraska in this new role,” said Courtney Miller.  “I look forward to continue working in this new role with Courtney Phillips and the entire DHHS team to fulfill our mission to help Nebraskans build better lives.”

Since Miller has been serving has acting director, she will begin her appointment immediately.  Her salary will be $135,000.

Courtney Miller
