Gov. Ricketts’ Independence Day Holiday Statement

LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Independence Day:
“On Independence Day, Americans celebrate the birth of our republic with family, fireworks, festivals, and food. As we observe the 240th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Susanne and I encourage our fellow Nebraskans to reflect on and remind one another of the liberty and freedoms for which our country’s founders fought and subsequent generations of men and women, especially our military, have protected through great sacrifices. Let us never forget these words: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’”
On Independence Day, Governor Ricketts will participate in Fourth of July parades in Omaha, Ralston, and Seward. Additional details about his schedule will be available at www.Governor.Nebraska.gov.
