LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of the Easter holiday, which is celebrated April 1, 2018.

“Easter and Holy Week are a time for celebration of and reflection on the new life and the gift of salvation that we have received through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  It’s a message of good news open to all people regardless of race, heritage, gender, economic condition, or social status.  As the late Rev. Billy Graham once said, ‘The cross shows us the seriousness of our sin—but it also shows us the immeasurable love of God.’

“On this Easter weekend, we also remember people of faith around the world who are suffering persecution and give thanks for the continued blessing of religious freedom we enjoy in the United States.

“If you are traveling to be with family this Easter weekend, remember to buckle up and drive safely. Susanne, the kids, and I wish all Nebraskans a happy and blessed Easter.”
