OMAHA – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts met with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, along with other various federal and state transportation officials. The meeting focused around ways in which our local, state, and federal transportation bodies can work together to grow and improve Nebraska’s infrastructure.
“Thank you to Secretary Chao for visiting Nebraska to discuss our infrastructure priorities.” said Governor Ricketts. “Building 21st-century infrastructure is vital to growing both Nebraska and our nation. Secretary Chao and the Trump Administration have been great partners with my office and our federal delegation as we work to achieve Nebraska’s infrastructure goals.”
Over the past two and a half years, Governor Ricketts has worked with local, state, and federal leaders to build 21st-century infrastructure across Nebraska. These efforts include merging the Nebraska Departments of Roads and Aeronautics into a Nebraska Department of Transportation as well as the Transportation Innovation Act which is helping accelerate expressway construction, repair county bridges, and fund infrastructure projects that promote economic growth.
