LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Presidents Day which is celebrated on February 20, 2017.
“On Presidents Day, our country observes the birthdays of Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan, and honors their contributions to our country and the importance of the office they held. As the recognized leader of the free world, Presidents serve as the defender of freedom and champion for liberty both at home and in their travels around the globe. Each of the men we honor today demonstrated courageous leadership at a key moment in our history, whether it was fighting for our independence, signing the Emancipation Proclamation, or ending the Cold War. Their actions have inspired countless Americans, and will continue to serve as a guiding light for generations of freedom-loving people for years to come.”
