Gov. Heineman Signs Veterans Day Proclamation

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman recently signed a proclamation recognizing the service of more than 165,000 Nebraska veterans. The proclamation encourages Nebraskans to remember the service and sacrifice of the nation’s veterans and military personnel during tomorrow’s observance of Veterans Day.

The proclamation signed by the Governor states, “I hereby urge all citizens to solemnly remember the sacrifices of those who have fought so valiantly in our past conflicts on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores. I ask all Nebraskans to recognize the sacrifices of those who have gone before them to preserve our heritage of freedom.”

The Governor is participating in several Veterans Day events this week, including Veterans Day ceremonies and student assemblies in Lincoln, Omaha, Plattsmouth, and Wahoo. He is also addressing attendees of a Veterans Awareness Conference hosted today by Chadron State College and will visit this afternoon with residents of the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff.
