Lt. Gov. Sheehy Elected Treasurer of National Lt. Governors Association
(Lincoln, Neb.) Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy has been elected to serve as treasurer of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA), making him one of three officers leading the organization. The selection was announced following the NLGA Annual Meeting held recently in Baltimore.
As treasurer, Lt. Gov. Sheehy will chair the NLGA’s Finance Committee for 2009-2010. Prior to his election, he served two years on the finance committee and has represented Midwestern states on the NLGA’s Executive Committee since 2007.
“I’m pleased to serve in this new capacity and appreciate the support of my colleagues,” Lt. Gov. Sheehy said. “I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to ensure the financial stability of this organization in the coming year.”
In addition to becoming an officer at the recent annual meeting, Lt. Gov. Sheehy moderated a conversation on cybersecurity with an assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and co-sponsored a resolution on the adoption of health information technology in states. The resolution expresses support for state efforts to encourage the adoption of electronic health records, electronic prescribing, and health information exchanges to provide additional security for patients and improve the efficiency and quality of medical care.
The NLGA is a bipartisan organization helping foster interstate cooperation among Lt. Governors of the 50 states and five U.S. Territories. |
