(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced the list of candidates interested in representing District 7 residents on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
Applicants include Clark Anderson of Ogallala, Sallie Atkins of Halsey, Tom Baker of Trenton, David Bernard-Stevens of North Platte, Dennis Berry of McCook, Mike Dafney of Alliance, John Massey of Scottsbluff, Stewart Minnick of Cambridge, Tom Olson of Lisco, Robert Phares of North Platte, Elton Tophoj of Oshkosh, Dale Wahlgren of North Platte, and Kathy Wilmot of Beaver City.
Gov. Heineman said, “This is an exceptionally qualified group of applicants and a credit to the important role the University of Nebraska plays in the success of this state.”
The Governor will appoint a new regent to serve through Jan. 9, 2007. To complete the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through 2010, the appointee would have to petition onto the ballot for the upcoming general election and be elected by the voters of District 7.
The Governor will conduct interviews with applicants in the coming weeks.
