(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced his appointment of Randin Roland as county court judge for the 12th Judicial District.
The district includes the counties of Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Grant, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan, and Sioux.
“I was impressed with the variety of experience in Mr. Roland’s legal career thus far,” Gov. Heineman said. “He seemed well prepared to assume this new role in service to his county and others in the district, and I have every confidence he will make an excellent jurist.”
Roland, 40, has served as the chief deputy county attorney for Cheyenne County since 2003 and as a deputy county attorney from 1995 to 2003. Prior to returning to Nebraska in 1995, he maintained a private legal practice in Rapid City, S.D. where he engaged in general practice. In his final year of law school, Roland served as an intern with the Offutt Air Force Base JAG Office.
In addition to his legal career, Roland serves as the deputy director of emergency management for Cheyenne County. He is a member of the Nebraska and South Dakota State Bar Associations.
He holds several leadership positions with the Cheyenne County Lawyers Association and is part of the county drug court team. He served as chairman of the Nebraska Workforce Development Youth Council from 2001 to 2002, and was a representative and board member of the Nebraska Child Support Enforcement Association in 1996 and 1997. He is a mentor and has volunteered as a coach for the Sidney High School Mock Trial Team.
Roland is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Northern Arizona University, earning a degree in business administration in 1988. He received his law degree from the Creighton University School of Law in 1993.
