Gov. Heineman's Statement on Status
of LB 1024, Omaha Schools Bill
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman, responding to repeated media requests, issued the following statement on the status of LB 1024, the comprehensive bill to address educational opportunities and school district boundaries in metropolitan Omaha:
"While I am unsure of the Legislature's strategy, I want to be clear. It is imperative that senators act on this bill by day 60. This issue must be dealt with by this Legislature at this time. Inaction is not an option."
