Gov. Heineman Comments on the Reopening
of Hong Kong to U.S. Beef
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman commented this morning on the positive announcement that Hong Kong is planning to resume U.S. beef imports.
"I am pleased that officials in Hong Kong have accepted the science-based protocols the United States follows in beef production," Gov. Heineman said. "Reopening this market is another significant step toward the full restoration of the international beef trade.
"We were confident other nations would follow Japan's decision to reopen its borders, and we are pleased to continue our work on behalf of Nebraska's beef industry. Hong Kong has answered that call, and it is our hope that South Korea and Taiwan will soon follow suit."
