(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman announced today that Lori McClurg, director of the state Department of Administrative Services (DAS), is leaving her post after seven years as part of the Governor’s cabinet to pursue a new opportunity with the University of Nebraska.
Gov. Heineman said, “Lori has done a terrific job managing one of the state’s largest agencies, and I especially appreciate her commitment to pursuing new efficiencies with regard to state resources. I know this new opportunity will put her experience in information technology and as a manager to good use and I wish her all the best.”
McClurg said, “This has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have enjoyed the chance to work with two outstanding governors and the many employees who have made public service such an exciting career choice.”
State budget administrator Gerry Oligmueller will serve as acting director until a permanent replacement is named. He has served as head of the state budget division since 1995 and was re-appointed in 1999. He previously served as deputy director of the former state Department of Social Services and the Nebraska Legislative Fiscal Office.
Oligmueller said, “While my budget responsibilities will continue to be a priority, I am very pleased to have this opportunity. I will continuously look for new ways to make state government both efficient and effective for the benefit of Nebraskans.”
McClurg’s last day will be Tuesday, Jan. 3.
While serving as DAS interim director, Oligmueller will receive $500 per month in addition to his current salary of $105,791.
