Gov. Heineman Comments on September
Report of State Revenues

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today issued a statement regarding the release of September receipts from the Nebraska Department of Revenue. Total net receipts for the month were more than $31.6 million above projections. Revenues in the first quarter of the 2005-06 FY exceed current projections by more than $85.7 million.

“I am very pleased with the progress we’ve seen in the first quarter of the current fiscal year,” Gov. Heineman said. “This is an indication that our state is on a path toward long-term economic growth.

“These positive numbers offer further support for the idea that a review of Nebraska’s tax climate is in order, and I look forward to working with the Legislature to craft a tax-relief package that will provide meaningful and sustained help for Nebraska families.”
