Gov. Heineman's Statement on Federal Funds for Fitzgerald Home

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today issued the following statement upon learning that the project for a new Thomas A. Fitzgerald Veterans Home in Bellevue will receive $13.65 million in federal funds to buttress significant state and local investment:

"I want to personally thank Nebraska's congressional delegation and Congressman (Lee) Terry for helping us secure this important and necessary funding for the men and women who have served our nation with dignity and distinction. This home will offer state-of-the-art care to the veterans living in and around Omaha. The care that a state provides for its veterans reflects how closely it holds our nation's ideals at heart. We in Nebraska respect the sacrifices that these brave souls have made on our behalf."
