Gov. Heineman Comments on Report of State Revenues for July

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today issued a statement regarding the release of July receipts from the Nebraska Department of Revenue. Total net receipts for the first month of the 2005-06 fiscal year were more than $10 million above projections.

“I continue to be pleased with the progress being made by Nebraska’s economy,” Gov. Heineman said. “I am hopeful that with continued growth, we will be in a position to again address Nebraska’s tax climate. We have already worked to make Nebraska a more inviting place to do business with the passage of the Nebraska Advantage. If our budget situation continues to outpace expectations, my office will take a serious look at what state government can do to ease the burden on taxpayers.”
