(Lincoln, NE) Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy unveiled an improved Web site for the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, as part of Nebraska’s ongoing efforts to provide Internet users with easy access to state government.
Gov. Dave Heineman joined the Lieutenant Governor for the announcement and emphasized the importance of state agencies embracing technology to offer residents and visitors more inviting and efficient ways to interact online with state government.
“As director of homeland security for the state and a representative of economic development, it is vital that local officials and community groups have access to the Lieutenant Governor,” Gov. Heineman said. “Ensuring that citizens can interact with our state leaders is part of our commitment to use technology in government for the benefit of all Nebraskans.”
Lt. Gov. Sheehy said, “In this digital age it is not only easy to provide the information residents and visitors need, but it is also more convenient in a state that covers as much area as Nebraska. This site is one more step in our continuing efforts to provide access to state government, regardless of where a person lives.”
Visitors to the Lt. Governor’s site can submit a request for meetings and personal appearances, as well as view the Lt. Governor’s public schedule and photos from recent events. In addition, the site allows users to register to receive the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s daily infrastructure report via e-mail. Also available are links to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Nebraska Information Technology Commission and other useful external sites.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Web site is available at http://www.ltgov.ne.gov, and can also be accessed from the State of Nebraska’s recently redesigned Web portal at http://www.nebraska.gov, which offers links to more than 300 available services.
