Gov. Heineman Applauds Passage
of Anti-Meth Legislation
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today lauded the leadership of Sens. Pat Bourne, Arnie Stuthman and Ray Aguilar in successfully advocating the passage of LB 117, the anti-methamphetamine bill championed by the Governor, Attorney General Jon Bruning and the Nebraska State Patrol.
The bill passed final reading 44-2 today on the floor of the Legislature, and the Governor said he hopes to hold a public signing ceremony early next week.
“This is a shining example of a cooperative effort to combat a vile threat to the safety and well-being of our families and friends,” Gov. Heineman said. “Meth is a plague we need to fight at every turn, and the elements of LB 117 will make Nebraska one of the least hospitable places to buy, sell or manufacture methamphetamine. I appreciate the leadership of Senators Bourne, Stuthman and Aguilar, and the vital assistance of Attorney General Bruning and Col. Tom Nesbitt.”
