Gov. Heineman Sends National Guard to
Assist Grand Island-Area Storm Efforts

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman, in response to a request from city officials, tonight ordered 20 Nebraska National Guard troops to assist with efforts to sandbag in the Grand Island area. They are expected to arrive within hours of the 8:30 p.m. order.

“I am proud to offer the assistance of the brave men and women who serve our state in times of crisis,” Gov. Heineman said. “I know our citizen-soldiers are glad to help their friends and neighbors in central Nebraska.”
