Statement from Gov. Heineman on
Anti-Meth Bill’s First-Read Passage

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman, responding to reporters' questions about the first-read passage of the anti-methamphetamine bill, LB 117, said, “This is an important tool to help combat the scourge of methamphetamine. I am pleased that the Legislature answered the people’s call to stiffen penalties for meth cooks and meth dealers and made the key ingredient for homemade meth more difficult to purchase for paranoid drug users.”

“I especially appreciate the leadership of Sen. Pat Bourne. He took on a difficult issue with clarity of vision, and Nebraskans will be safer as a result.”
