Gov. Heineman Orders Flags at Half-Staff in
Honor of Pope John Paul II
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman has ordered all U.S. and Nebraska flags flown at half-staff today, Saturday, April 2 per presidential order to honor the memory of Pope John Paul II who passed away today. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of his interment.
Gov. Heineman said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Catholic community and all people of faith who mourn the passing of Pope John Paul II. He has been an inspiration to people around the world, and I ask all Nebraskans to remember his life.”
President George W. Bush signed a proclamation today ordering flags to be flown at half-staff nationwide.
