Gov. Heineman Appoints District Court Judge for Fourth Judicial District
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced the appointment of Marlon A. Polk of Omaha to the District Court of the Fourth Judicial District, which includes much of the greater Omaha metropolitan area and Douglas County.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to appoint a person of such high caliber,” Gov. Heineman said. “Mr. Polk has been a skillful litigator and a community leader, and I am confident that Nebraskans will find justice in his courtroom.”
Polk, a founding partner of Polk, Wickman & Washington PC, LLO, has worked in the Omaha legal community since 1991, having served as a law clerk and litigation associate at Kutak Rock Law Firm, counseling corporate clients. He also worked in criminal law.
His firm, Polk, Wickman & Washington PC, LLO, has concentrated on civil litigation for firms from American Airlines to State Farm Insurance. His experience there includes more than 25 trials and more than 75 mediations and arbitrations.
Polk, 38, is a 1988 criminal justice graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, having minored in business administration. He earned his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in 1991.
His community memberships include the American Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Omaha Bar Association, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Commission, All Our Kids, and the Midlands Bar Association, where he served as president from 1999-2003.
