Gov. Heineman Appoints Student Members
to
State Colleges’ Board of Trustees
(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman announced the appointment today of three students to serve as nonvoting members of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges.
“I am pleased to see our young people taking leadership roles with regard to their institutions of higher learning,” Gov. Heineman said. “Few investments matter more than education, and these students are taking an important step toward charting its course.”
Carla Jean Giger of Chadron, a justice studies senior at Chadron State College, Heath Daniel Christiansen of Verdon, a computer management information systems and marketing junior at Peru State College, and Lucas Richard Virgil of Weston, a history and pre-law sophomore at Wayne State College, were named to the Board.
Each student will serve one year as part of the 10-member Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges. They will assume their new roles during the Board’s June 9 meeting.
