Governor’s Communications Director Resigns to Accept Federal Post

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman announced today that Communications Director Terri Teuber will leave state government in mid-March to assume the position of communications director for the United States Department of Agriculture.

Gov. Heineman said, “Terri Teuber has been an exceptional communications director and played an important role in my transition from Lieutenant Governor to Governor. While I certainly will miss having her as part of my team, I am extraordinarily proud that she is being given this opportunity to join Secretary Johanns on President Bush’s team. Nebraska’s loss is our nation’s gain and I wish Terri all the best.”

Teuber said, “I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve two outstanding governors. While it was a difficult decision to leave, I am honored to serve in President Bush’s administration under Secretary Johanns. I leave knowing that Nebraska is in good hands. I don’t think Nebraskans yet realize how fortunate they are to have someone of Dave Heineman’s caliber so well-prepared to assume the responsibilities that come with the governorship.”

Teuber has served as communications director and spokeswoman for the Governor since September 2003, when she was hired by then Governor Mike Johanns. From 1999-2003, she served as public information coordinator for the Nebraska State Patrol. Prior to her service in state government, Teuber was a news anchor and reporter in Lincoln, having worked at both KLKN TV and KOLN TV.
