McDonald’s Sending Top Executive to
Governor’s Ag Conference

(Lincoln, NE) Gov. Dave Heineman announced today that McDonald’s will send a top executive working with the company’s global supply chain to speak at the annual Governor’s Ag Conference. Frank Muschetto is the Corporate Senior Vice President of global supply chain for McDonald’s. His presentation will focus on the importance of traceability and the requirements of source verification in the food supply chain.

“We are very pleased to add Mr. Muschetto to our Ag Conference line-up,” Gov. Heineman said. “His talk will address two key issues facing our livestock and crop producers. Hearing from a major food purchaser like McDonald’s will help producers better understand the growing role traceability and source verification have in ag operations of every size.”

Following his presentation on Thursday, March 3, Muschetto will be joined by John Hayes, McDonald’s senior director of U.S. food packaging, to take questions from conference participants. Tim Peters, director of public affairs for McDonald’s, will also attend the conference.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Ag Conference will be U. S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns. Other speakers include: Orion Samuelson, agricultural services director for WGN Radio in Chicago, discussing the impact and importance of agriculture in America, as well as the importance of ethics in today’s society; Dr. Ronald Roskens, founder of Global Connections, Inc., focusing on the acceptance of the global marketplace; Nancy Pellett, Chairman and CEO of the Farm Credit Administration, discussing the role of today’s Farm Credit Services; and Eric Hess, Vice President of SES, Inc., a consulting company based in Lenexa, Kan., talking about Nebraska’s animal safety program as it relates to homeland security.

Registration for the opening reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2. The “Celebrate Nebraska Agriculture” reception will feature a variety of foods produced by Nebraska farmers, ranchers and food companies, as well as entertainment from Mitch Holthus, a motivational speaker. Gov. Heineman and Merlyn Carlson, director of the Nebraska Department of Agriculture will formally begin the conference on Thursday at 9:00 a.m.

The Governor’s Ag Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn in Kearney. Registration information is available by calling the Nebraska Department of Agriculture at (800) 422-6692 or by visiting www.agr.state.ne.us.
